The Rolling Stones 1978 tour of the USA in support of that year’s Some Girls album is considered by fans to be one of their very best. The tour followed immediately on the release of the Some Girls album and by the time the band arrived in Texas in mid-July the album had hit the No.1 spot on the US charts. The tour took a back to basics approach, with the band and their music very much at the forefront and little or no elaborate staging. Filmed at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 18th, 1978, this concert is typical of the tour with the Rolling Stones delivering a raw, energetic
performance in front of a crowd who are clearly loving the show. Many of the tracks from Some Girls are included in the live set with a sprinkling of Stones classics from earlier albums. Originally shot on 16mm film, the footage has been carefully restored and the sound remixed and remastered by Bob Clearmountain from the original multitrack tapes. This is undeniably the Rolling Stones at the peak of their form. / Bonus Features: Newly filmed interview with Mick Jagger; Tomorrow featuring Dan Aykroyd and Mick Jagger from Saturday Night Live, October 1978; Shattered , Respectable and Beast Of Burden performed by The Rolling Stones, introduced by Laraine Newman from Saturday Night Live, October 1978; Excerpts from ABC 20/20 Special, introduced by Hugh Downs with interviews by Geraldo Rivera from 20/20, June 1978 5 mins in total includes Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Bill; Interview with Mick [France Aug 2011] 15 mins / DVD/CD TRACK LISTING: 1) Let It Rock 2) All Down The Line 3) Honky Tonk Women 4) Star Star 5) When The Whip Comes Down 6) Beast Of Burden 7) Miss You 8) Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me) 9) Shattered 10) Respectable 11) Far Away Eyes 12) Love In Vain 13) Tumbling Dice 14) Happy 15) Sweet Little Sixteen 16) Brown Sugar 17) Jumpin Jack Flash

This 9 DVD set features rare, one-of-a-kind performances from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, filmed over the past 24 years. The biggest names in rock ‘n’ roll perform in intimate settings, jamming in combinations not seen anywhere else. Plus, the DVDs feature exclusive, anything-goes induction speeches by rock royalty, along with rare behind-the-scenes footage.
For nearly a quarter century, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has honored music’s most influential figures at prestigious black-tie events where performers and audience alike let down their hair. Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Live captures all the excitement of those ceremonies, from the wise and witty speeches, to the most incredible combinations of talent ever assembled on a single stage.
Review:
-New DVD set features jams, speeches, and once-in-a-lifetime pairings at Rock hall induction ceremonies.
-Features Prince s scintillating guitar solo to While My Guitar Gently Weeps!
-Bruce Springsteen and Mick Jagger perform at the 1988 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen are singing together. Sharing a mic, they stand so close together they can probably feel each other s breath.
-Ringo Starr is on drums, and Billy Joel is on piano; both had already sung a verse of the song, the early Beatles hit I Saw Her Standing There.
The army of guitarists includes George Harrison, Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, Jeff Beck, Les Paul and Dave Edmunds.
-Various Beach Boys, Drifters, Supremes and E Street Band members help fill the crowded stage, adding backing vocals and layers of instrumentation. Legendary concert promoter Bill Graham serves as the stage manager, trying to keep order as best he can.
-About 700 people mostly musicians and music-industry executives witnessed the scene, in person, when it happened in 1988 at the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. But it, and many other remarkable jams, can been seen on a new DVD boxed set, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Live.
-Eddie Vedder fills in admirably for the late Jim Morrison when the surviving Doors perform, in 1993. Springsteen and Robbie Robertson help Fogerty re-create the swampy tension of the Creedence Clearwater Revival sound, in the same year. Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters partner Taylor Hawkins join members of Queen for a frantic Tie Your Mother Down in 2001.
-Prince adds a scintillating guitar solo to a cover of Harrison s While My Guitar Gently Weeps (also featuring Tom Petty and Steve Winwood) in 2004, when Harrison was inducted posthumously as a solo artist.
-And then there are the induction speeches. Bono on Springsteen (“If John Steinbeck could sing, if Van Morrison could ride a Harley-Davidson .?.?.”). Springsteen on U2 (“The last band of whom I would be able to name all of its members”). Young on Hendrix, Petty on Buffalo Springfield, Kid Rock on Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton on the Band, James Taylor on Crosby, Stills and Nash … all reflect, with disarming sincerity, on how the music and the musicians inspired them.
There are some great moments in the acceptance speeches as well. Ray Charles jokes around with Quincy Jones.
“It seems to me that rock n roll should never be respectable,” says Clapton, being inducted as a member of Cream in 1993 (he was already in the hall as a member of the Yardbirds, and would later be inducted as a solo artist as well). Yet he was persuaded to come and, as a result, got to perform with his Cream bandmates Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker for the first time in 25 years.
Jagger expresses similar misgivings upon being inducted with the Rolling Stones in 1989.
“It s slightly ironic,” he says, “that tonight you see us on our best behavior. But we re being rewarded for 25 years of bad behavior.” –Jay Lustig/The Star-Ledger

Totally Stripped is a newly-revised version of the documentary that was originally made to coincide with the release of The Rolling Stones Stripped album released in November 1995. It tells the story of the two studio sessions and three live shows that made up the Stripped project. This followed the conclusion of the mammoth Voodoo Lounge tour and found The Stones reimagining tracks from their back catalog in pared back versions alongside a couple of carefully chosen covers in the studio and doing smaller scale club gigs to showcase these versions, which was a marked contrast to the huge arenas and stadiums that had hosted the Voodoo Lounge tour. This new version of the documentary includes previously unseen footage and lays bare the inner workings of both The Rolling Stones and of some of their best loved tracks. Revealing, intimate and moving, Totally Stripped is unmissable.

This latest addition to the From The Vault series captures a truly unique event in the long and eventful history of The Rolling Stones. On the May 20th, 2015 at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, California, the band performed the entire Sticky Fingers album live in concert for the first and so far only time in their career. The show celebrated the reissue of the Sticky Fingers album and was the opening night of The Rolling Stones Zip Code Tour of North America that would run over the next two months. The intimate setting of the Fonda Theatre was in contrast to the huge stadiums in which the band would perform for the rest of the tour and made this an incredibly special occasion for those fans lucky enough to get a ticket. The DVD include interviews with the band members intercut with full length performances.

The Rolling Stones’ No Security tour ran from January to June 1999 through North America and Europe. It followed on from the colossal Bridges To Babylon tour and took its name from the “No Security” live album recorded on that 1997/98 tour. In reaction to the huge stadiums played on Bridges To Babylon the conscious decision was made to book smaller venues for the initial North American leg of the No Security tour. This latest addition to the acclaimed From The Vaults series was filmed at the San Jose Arena in front of an audience of a little over 30,000 (intimate by Rolling Stones standards!) at the end of the North American dates. Previously unreleased, it captures the band in top form playing a set that spans from mid-sixties hit singles up to the then current Bridges To Babylon album.

‘From The Vault’ is a new series of live concerts from The Rolling Stones archive which are getting their first official release. ‘L.A. Forum Live In 1975′ is the second title in this series. The Rolling Stones’ ‘Tour Of The Americas ’75’ was the band’s first tour with new guitarist Ronnie Wood. Even before the dates started there were dramatic scenes in New York City at the official tour announcement when the band unexpectedly turned up on a flatbed truck to play ‘Brown Sugar’. After a couple of low key warm-up shows in Louisiana the tour took in 44 dates between the 3rd June and the 8th August 1975. They settled into the L.A. Forum for a five night stint from July 9th to 13th and this concert film features the show from July 12th. The footage has now been carefully restored and the sound has been newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain for this first official release of the show.

‘From The Vault’ is a series of live concerts from The Rolling Stones archive which are getting their first official release. ‘The Marquee Live In 1971’ is the latest addition to the series. The show was filmed at London’s legendary Marquee club on March 26th 1971, shortly after the finish of the band’s 1971 UK tour and about a month before the release of the ‘Sticky Fingers’ album in late April. Mick Taylor was now fully integrated into the group and the band had used the tour to showcase some of the tracks from the forthcoming album. The show at the Marquee was filmed for American television and four songs from the ‘Sticky Fingers’ album were featured, including the rarely performed ‘I Got The Blues’. One of the landmark new wave films of the late 60s, directed by the celebrated Jean-Luc Godard, Sympathy for the Devil alternates between reflections on contemporary politics and social issues of the late 1960s as well as giving the audience an unprecedented view of The Rolling Stones creative process in the recording studio working on what would become one of the band s defining tracks. The Rolling Stones original line up of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman were joined by Nicky Hopkins, Marianne Faithfull, Anita Pallenberg and James Fox in the landmark session that took place at Olympic Sound Studios in London in June 1968. The new edition of Godard s Sympathy For The Devil is a 4K restoration of the film from the original 35mm camera negative that was initially released in 1969. The color grading has been supervised by the original cinematographer, Tony Richmond BSC, ASC. Richmond holds dozens of credits as cinematographer including Let it Be, and Nicolas Roeg s Don t Look Now for which he won BAFTA s Best Cinematography award in 1973. The expanded rerelease of the film includes numerous extras including the entirety of One Plus One (Godard s director s cut) as well as Voices, a 1968 documentary on the making of Sympathy For The Devil, along with a 2018 documentary featuring interviews with Tony Richmond and Mim Scala, one of the film s producers. Additional extras include a full-length commentary track by Godard authority David Sterritt, former Chairman of the National Society of Film Critics, and the physical package showcases an essay by author Danny Goldberg (In Search of the Lost Chord: 1967 and the Hippie Idea, Dispatches From The Culture Wars). Goldberg wrote, Musically, the film shows the Stones manifesting a fragile balance between fidelity to roots and to innovation. Created more than a decade before MTV began, Sympathy For the Devil can be seen as a long music video, completely unique at the time in showing the work and creativity that goes into the making of a record.

The show celebrated the reissue of the Sticky Fingers album and was the opening night of The Rolling Stones Zip Code Tour of North America that would run over the next two months.
